Kitchener Landscapers is a booking line. It is not a landscaping company, and it is not a directory that sells your enquiry to a list of bidders. It connects to one local, insured landscaper working across Kitchener, Waterloo and Breslau: the new-build clay of Doon South, Huron Park and Breslau, the mature 1960s to 80s lots of Forest Heights and Stanley Park, the small century-home gardens downtown and around Victoria Park, the sloping treed lots of old Doon, and the moraine sand and clay pockets of Waterloo.

Landscaping attracts a particular kind of selling. Sod rolled onto clay with no soil under it and a two-week guarantee. A retaining wall priced as blocks and labour with no base or drainage. A plant list that says shrubs and perennials and nothing else. A design drawn for a wetter climate than this one, which then needs a sprinkler system to survive a Kitchener August. Anyone who has collected a few landscaping quotes has met at least one of those.

The point of this site is a straight line to a landscaper who walks the property with a shovel before pricing it, deals with the soil and the water first, plants for the light and the Region's water rules, builds walls with a base and drainage, says plainly when a wall needs an engineer or a tree needs an arborist, and puts the whole thing in a written, itemised quote before anything is ordered.

What we will not do: publish reviews we do not have, invent a rating or a star count, claim years in business this site does not have, show a portfolio of gardens that are not ours, call the landscaper licensed when Ontario does not license the trade, quote a fixed price on a website, or sell your phone number. This site is new. It says what it can do and nothing more.

What the landscaper handles

• Landscape design and installation for front and back yards, installed as one project
• Sod and seeded lawns on properly prepared ground, replacement of failed builder sod, lawn renovation
• Garden beds built and rebuilt, foundation planting removed and replaced, native and drought-tolerant planting, rain gardens, raised beds, mulch and edging
• Small retaining walls in block, stone and timber with proper base and drainage; regrading, swales and downspout drainage
• Spring and fall cleanups, shrub pruning, aeration and overseeding, and seasonal garden maintenance

What it does not handle

The landscaper is insured for liability and covered by WSIB. Landscaping is not a licensed trade in Ontario and no licence is claimed. Interlocking paver driveways and large patios are a hardscape contractor's work. Snow removal is a separate winter business and is not offered. Tree removal and large tree pruning are an arborist's job, and removing larger private trees in Kitchener can need a permit through the City of Kitchener. Irrigation systems are not installed as a standalone service. Retaining walls above the height that needs a permit under Ontario's Building Code need an engineered design and are referred. Basement waterproofing is a different trade. Work in areas regulated by the Grand River Conservation Authority is checked with them first, and outdoor water use follows the Region of Waterloo rules. You will be told when a job belongs to someone else rather than sold a version of it that will not last.

How this works

When you call 226-270-7271 or send the form, your details go straight to the landscaper. They arrange a site walk, look at the soil, the grade and the light, talk through what you want, then quote the work in writing with each part itemised. Utility locates are requested before digging and the work is done under the landscaper's own insurance. Your information is not sold, not shared with a list of competing companies, and there is no markup added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do

• Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
• Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
• Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
